Ramblings

It’s been a strange day – filled with bitter, OCD, and passive aggressive people. Then you meet people who are in much worse circumstances – who meet life with a smile and a laugh.

Though you have made me see troubles,
many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up. Psalm 71:20

A Few Thoughts – Ramblings

Reality and the Nightly News have nothing in common

One Nation Under God

I believe that a personal relationship with Jesus is necessary for salvation.

In The End: “Every Knee Shall Bow – Every Tongue Confess – That Jesus Christ is LORD.”

The Ten Commandments are Valid:

Just a word on the sixth commandment (7th – by Jewish numbering) “Thou Shalt Not Kill,” at least that’s what it says in the King James Bible. However, looking at the Hebrew – in which it was originally written, Tsakh Teer Lo (“You Shall Murder – Not”) – it refers to premeditated murder and manslaughter. Tsakh is never used to refer to the administration of justice or war.

Of war and training, the scripture says:

“Praise be to the Lord my Rock,
who trains my hands for war,
my fingers for battle.
He is my loving God and my fortress,
my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield, in whom I take refuge” Psalm 144

I’ve thought about this alot, over the years – the “muscle memory” necessary to be quick and decisive in a defensive tactics situation, or the sudden acquisition of sight picture and the fore-knowledge that you are going to make an almost impossible shot.

As to Self Defense – or Defense of Another:

“Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:4

“Deliver those who are drawn toward death, And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.” Proverbs 24:11

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman’s hand.” Ezekial 33

I don’t believe in murdering people. I view abortion as murder.

The Constitution is not perfect – it just beats the crap out of any other form of governance.

Socialism does not work, never has worked, never will work. “Work” is the issue. Socialism has human nature working against it. No one wants to be mandated to work, and at the same time, support someone who does nothing. The early Christian Church tried it. It didn’t last long. If THEY couldn’t make it work – there is no way a bunch of socialist and communist agitators are going to make it work.

By mandating “charity,” the Socialist misses out on the blessing.

I do believe in charity. I pray that God will lead me in giving to individuals as He touches me. Not “deserving” individuals. I leave that up to God. This is above and beyond the 10% I give to my church, organized charities, and Christian missions. I am not here to blow my own horn. I am here to testify to a scriptural principle.

When we were young and newly married – and for quite a few years after we were married – though we knew the importance of tithing – we just never could see how we would manage. There was never enough money. We’d wait until the end of the pay period and see if there was any money left. There never was.

Then, we “stepped out in faith” and took the tithe out first. At the end of the pay period – there was money left. It makes no sense – but there you have it. This has continued to date – much to my ongoing astonishment. As we are faithful – so is He ever more faithful – and what does He have?

(God says) “For every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.” Psalm 50:10

I try, very hard, to view this as honoring God – and not to view this as “giving to get,” — but there is that scripture:

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. TEST ME IN THIS,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachai 3:10

This is how I feel about how God has Blessed Me. I don’t have a huge bankroll, portfolio, or lands, but I have all that I need – and more. Most of all – I feel the blessing of God’s Hand – in my life.
